Jonathan Anderson and Edwin Low have collaborated as the critically-acclaimed team Anderson & Low since 1990. Best known for their series Athlete/Warrior, Champions and Circus; Manga Dreams marks a departure from these previously pristine portraits and focuses on highly disciplined studio based images that capture the imagination of manga. An exclusive body of work, Manga Dreams is collaboration between the subjects dedicated followers of the manga aesthetic and culture - and photographers, in which numerous layers of interpretations, translations, exchanges, reproductions and visual executions are involved. Throughout the series, Anderson & Low connect street youth and visual cyber culture with contemporary art in a technically and visually discerning interpretation of manga culture. Anderson & Low embrace both digital technology and postproduction to enable the addition of montage layers to this visually exuberant body of work, creating a world that makes a departure from reality.
