It's true that the background of the set is dark, but that doesn't mean you miss any of the action which is all perfectly visible. Set to Schchedrin's quirky arrangement of Carmen (and other Bizet music), this has superb choreography by Ted Brandsen, combining the technique and elegance of classical ballet with more modern expressive dance movement. Benazir Hussain oozes charisma as Carmen and has very strong support from all the other principals
